For 2024, we're thrilled to put the Addison Oaks Summer Classic on our official team calendar with full mechanical, nutritional, and coaching support. Although this race won't count for MiSCA points, this is a great local opportunity to gain race experience at a location students will be racing at during the fall season.
Students will compete in the Michigan Scholastic Cycling Association (MiSCA) fall racing series. Students will race for both individual and composite team points throughout the season, which will accumulate as overall points. After the final race, these points are calculated and State Championships are awarded to the riders with the most points in each category (lowest race score is dropped).
Schedule
Club racing is for anyone who wants to race without meeting any particular practice, race, or other attendance requirements. You must enter at least one MiSCA race to be on the race team and attend race team practice after mid-July.
Varsity Racing is for students that want to earn a school club letter* for their jacket. Students seeking a club letter MUST treat the race season as they would a varsity sport within their school.
Students racing in our Varsity Program will be rewarded for effort. We realize that it takes years to build fitness and skills levels on the bike and students racing in both the Junior Varsity and Varsity classes are eligible for a club Varsity letter. Students registering to race in JV will be invited to move up to Varsity by coaches based on race performance.
Parents and students will meet at our Varsity Kick Off meeting and discuss the requirements outlined below and adjustments can be agreed upon and made accordingly. WE WELCOME AND VALUE STUDENT INPUT!!!
Requirements:
* RMBT will work with out-of-district schools to attain club letter status, but the schools have final say. If we are unable to procure letter status, you will be awarded a team patch acknowledging your accomplishments.
** A club letter in mountain biking is not eligible for a gym credit.
The elite Wings Racing program is for students who want to take their racing to the next level with off- and on-season coach-led structured training and additional racing. The goal of the program is to develop racers to be competitive at the MiSCA varsity level.
This program is by application only and participation is limited. Applications open in roughly September for the following season.
You can check out the local road racing scene here. Courses are generally closed circuit (no auto traffic) or are separated (auto lanes and bike race lanes separated by cones / tape). These events are not MiSCA-related or RMBT team-supported.
